Cardiovacular Disease
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a general term for conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels. It is usually associated with a build-up of fatty deposits inside the arteries (atherosclerosis) and an increased risk of blood clots. It can also be associated with damage to arteries in organs such as the brain, heart, kidneys and eyes.
The exact cause of CVD is not clear, but there are lots of risk factors that can increase your risk of getting it. The more risk factors you have, the greater your chances of developing CVD. Such risk factors include high blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, lack of physical activity, being overweight or obese by making unhealthy eating choices.
We can guide you towards making the right lifestyle choices in order to protect your heart and minimise the risk of suffering from CVD.
